Currently Riding: 07’ BMW R1200GS
Started riding while going to High School in San Francisco on an old Vespa motor scooter. Actually spent more time repairing it than riding.. Then, while in Army Helicopter flight school, I purchased a 69’ Honda (can’t remember model) 175cc (wanta be dirt bike) scramble, that was a total disappointment. After separation from the military; while attending college, I bought a used 76’ Suzuki GT-380 that was a “hoot” to commute/ride thought the suspension was a little weak (scattered a 80# sack of goat feed all over the hwy) while whipping through some nice twisties @ Warp 7…. Then, many fond memories made on my 82’ Honda CB750, riding the Northern California Coast route 1.
Gave up riding for quite a few years due to family needs; then as a pre-retirement present to myself…an 02’ Harley Fatboy found it’s way into my garage. After moving to Idaho, a family friend convinced me to take up single track riding, so the 02’ Harley went bye bye and a 04’ Suzuki DRZ400S took it’s place. After cracking several ribs, twisting ankles and doing several face plants…at my age healing/recovery takes a little longer, went back to a hwy bike, a 04’ Harley Fatboy.
Then I found ADVriders… and dual sport riding. Finally my niche (got tired of the noisy pipes)… so good-bye Harley…hello 07’ KLR650. After total “farkling” (adding much weight), I found the bloody thing wouldn’t stop in three football fields length from 60+ MPH using up several of my “nine” lives in death defying car avoidances maneuvers…not to mention the 70+ MPH rocket-ship passing power of several in-line 18-wheeler when on two lane twisty hwys. So..into my life came “Pegasus”. My 07’ R1200GS which, in my opinion, is one of the “Best” (though cost is no object) machines made…my $0.02 for what it’s worth!!
